Blaze Breaks Out at North Weald Industrial Estate
Firefighters rushed to a major fire near Vicarage Lane West in North Weald after reports of thick smoke billowing from a large commercial site.
Multiple Buildings Engulfed in Flames
On arrival, crews found several industrial units ablaze, including huge steel-framed buildings and ISO containers. The remote location made tackling the blaze a real challenge.
Fire Under Control After Tough Battle
By 7:30pm, firefighters had brought the fire under control and were dousing hot spots to prevent flare-ups.
Crew Manager Ross Daynes said: “The fire involved a number of industrial buildings. There were large steel-framed buildings, ISO containers and several smaller units.”
“Firefighters worked very hard in difficult conditions. Due to the remote location, our water supply was low, but crews moved quickly to surround and contain the fire.”
“Damage and collapse of several units made it difficult to fully extinguish the blaze because of hidden hot spots.”
“We also found two gas cylinders, which can be very dangerous if they get too hot. Firefighters used water to cool them down until they were safe.”
