Gunman on the Loose After Shots Fired in Liverpool Home
Merseyside Police are on the hunt for a gunman after shots were fired at a house in Old Swan, Liverpool, on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Gunfire Rocks Quiet Residential Street
Officers rushed to Acanthus Road at around 3:50 PM following reports of gunfire. Witnesses spotted two men dressed in black fleeing the scene. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the front window of the property was shattered in the alarming attack.
Police Launch Urgent Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Andy McCourt said, “The investigation is in its very early stages, and officers are currently in the area carrying out CCTV and house-to-house inquiries.”
“Thankfully, no one was injured, but this firearms discharge could have had catastrophic consequences.”
“People, including children, were inside the house at the time of the shooting, making the incident even more alarming.”
“I’m sure the local community will be just as appalled as we are, and I want to reassure them that we are determined to find the people responsible.”
Tough Crackdown on Gun Crime
DCI McCourt stressed the force’s determination to tackle gun violence head-on.
“Those involved in serious organised crime are clearly willing to carry and use firearms in Merseyside, but we will be relentless in removing them from our streets.”
“Information from the public is vital if we are to break down the organised crime groups who bring misery to our streets.”
“I completely understand that speaking up could be daunting, but when people are willing to support the police, we will ensure every possible avenue is progressed to protect them.”
