Man jailed after class A drugs found during stop check

Wrexham Man Jailed Over Class A Drug Haul After Police Stop Near Chester

Andrew Jones, 35, slammed behind bars for over three years following a police crackdown on drugs.

Three Years and Four Months for Coke Supply

Jones, from Westbourne Drive, Wrexham, was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on 5 January. He was found guilty of possessing cocaine with intent to supply after a dramatic police stop on 28 January 2022.

The Bust That Broke the Case

Cheshire Police officers pulled over a silver Renault Laguna on the A483 near the Posthouse Roundabout. Jones, a passenger, admitted to carrying a quantity of suspicious white powder. A search revealed a clear bag of white powder in the car boot, later confirmed as cocaine mixed with a cutting agent – boosting its street value massively.

Jones was immediately arrested on the spot.

Police Raid Reveals More Evidence

Later that same day, North Wales Police raided Jones’ Wrexham home. They confiscated:

  • Three mobile phones
  • Two iPads
  • A baseball bat
  • A large bag with used and unused snap bags
  • A pad of paper with names and phone numbers – likely linked to drug dealings

Police Praise Team Effort to Curb Drug Supply

“Thanks to this excellent example of proactive police work and collaboration with our neighbouring forces, we have successfully put a stop to illegal substances being brought into and dealt within our county,” said Police Constable Jamie Blyth, who led the investigation.

“We aim to make our communities safer and crack down hard on those supplying drugs. We urge anyone with information about drug activity to contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via their website.”
