Dean Broadway, 40, from Paulsgrove, Portsmouth, has been sentenced to seven years in prison following a police operation that uncovered firearms and Class A drugs at his residence.

On April 13, 2016, officers raided Broadway’s home on Mablethorpe Road. During the search, they seized a section five firearm along with ammunition. Broadway admitted to possessing the firearm and was sentenced to five years for the gun charge and an additional two years for the ammunition. These sentences are to be served consecutively.

In addition to the firearm charges, Broadway was convicted of possessing cocaine with intent to supply dating back to September 2015. He received a further two-year sentence for this offence, also to run consecutively with his other sentences.

Police have issued a warning to the public regarding the dangers of firearms. PC John Middleton stated: “Mr Broadway received a lengthy prison sentence for possessing a dangerous weapon. The level of threat, risk and harm to the community could have been significant had we not located this firearm and the ammunition with it.”

PC Middleton added: “Police take any offence in relation to firearms seriously and I would recommend any member of the public to report any firearms related incidents to the police.”
