Andy Hill, the pilot involved in the fatal Shoreham Air Show crash that resulted in 11 deaths in August 2015, is set to face manslaughter charges. The Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed that Hill, aged 53 and from Standon, Hertfordshire, will be charged with manslaughter by gross negligence in connection with the tragic incident.
Hill was flying a Hawker Hunter jet when it crashed during the Shoreham Air Show on 22 August 2015. The crash caused the deaths of 11 people and left the local community deeply affected by the disaster.
In addition to the manslaughter charges, Hill will also be charged with endangering an aircraft under Article 137 of the Air Navigation Order 2009. These charges reflect the serious nature of the incident and its impact on public safety.
The pilot is scheduled to appear at 1 Magistrates’ Court on 19 April to be formally charged. This court appearance marks the next step in the legal proceedings following the tragic event.
