Natasha Johnston, 28, a former Isle of Wight resident, was fatally attacked by dogs in Surrey on January 12. The incident happened on Gravelly Hill, Caterham, with police describing the event as a “tragic accident.”
Inquest Launched and Adjourned
An inquest into Natasha’s death has been opened but adjourned until June 29. Surrey Coroner Richard Travers will lead the investigation to uncover the circumstances behind the fatal attack.
Attack Details and Police Response
The victim, originally from Croydon, was bitten while walking her own dogs. Paramedics arrived quickly but were unable to save her. Police confirmed none of the dogs involved were prohibited breeds. On January 26, eight dogs remain in Surrey Police custody, including a Leonberger, two Dachshunds, a Cockapoo, and a Collie.
Family Pays Tribute
Friends and family have flooded social media with heartfelt tributes to the former Ryde High School student. Detective Inspector Josephine Horner, leading the investigation, assured the public: “The dogs are still being cared for at private kennels to ensure their welfare, and their owners are being kept informed.”
