Two ambulance crew members from South Central Ambulance Service played a crucial role in stopping a break-in at Tesco Express in Bishopstoke, near Eastleigh. The incident marked the second attempt to raid the store within a week.
The crew noticed a scruffy Ford Fiesta acting suspiciously on the main road. They then witnessed three men using a block from a nearby car wash fence to smash their way into the Tesco store.
Reacting quickly, the ambulance team aborted their emergency call, raised the alarm, and confronted the criminals. The raiders fled back to the Ford Fiesta and drove off, but not before being captured on both the ambulance’s dashcam and Tesco’s CCTV footage.
This was the second break-in attempt at the Tesco Express in just one week. The store still had boarded-up windows from the previous smash-and-grab incident. Following the latest event, police arrested one suspect who is currently in custody and being questioned.
Tesco management and local residents are relieved by the swift action of the ambulance crew and hope that this marks the end of the break-in attempts at the store.
