More than 50 firefighters raced to a blazing house on Alexandra Road, Farnborough. Eight fire engines from Rushmoor, Fleet, Hartley Wintney, and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service joined the fight, supported by numerous backup vehicles.
Fire crews used an aerial ladder platform to rescue a man trapped on the roof. He was brought down safely using a 135-metre ladder and handed over to South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) for treatment.
The three-storey semi-detached home had been converted into bedsits. The fire broke out on the first floor and spread to the roof space. Crews tackled the flames with 18 breathing apparatus sets, five jets, and tactical ventilation.
The fire was declared under control by 3:50pm.
A joint investigation by fire and police teams is now underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
