A newborn baby was found dead this morning in the Morrisons car park located on the Black Country Route in Bilston. The grim discovery was made by a passerby just after 9am on 11 April.

Authorities have not yet determined the exact time the baby was born or how the infant came to be in the car park. The investigation is ongoing as police work to establish the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

Detective Inspector Jim Edmonds, from the public protection unit, commented on the case: “This is a truly tragic discovery, and we’ve treated the scene and the baby with the utmost care and dignity today.” He added, “While we don’t yet know what has happened, there must be a mother out there who is in real need of help – she is my absolute priority right now.”

Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area and checking with local hospitals as part of their efforts to identify the mother. They are appealing to the public for any information that could assist the investigation.
