Man Attacked in Homophobic Assault at Burgess Park

In the early hours of Saturday, May 14, a 55-year-old man was viciously attacked in Burgess Park, South London. The victim was walking with two friends when an unknown assailant shouted homophobic abuse before striking him on the head. The offender then fled on foot along Albany Road.

Victim Hospitalised, Not Life-Threatened

Emergency services rushed to the scene and took the injured man to hospital. His condition, thankfully, is not life-threatening.

CCTV Image Released – Police Hunt Young Suspect

Police have released footage of a young man seen walking along Albany Road shortly after the attack. Described as possibly in his early 20s, he wore a stud earring and carried a plastic JD Sports string bag.

Though his face is not visible, police hope someone will recognise the suspect from his distinctive accessories. Enquiries include searching for more CCTV footage in the area.

Police Plea for Information

Anyone with information on the attacker is urged to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 650/14may. Those who wish to remain anonymous can reach out to Crimestoppers.
