Early Morning Co-op Heist Foiled After Explosion Blast

Just before 4am on Wednesday 31 March, two men rocked up in a white Seat Leon at the Co-op on Four Cross Avenue. They caused an explosion to smash open the cash machine, then swung pickaxes at the shop’s front in a desperate bid to get inside.

But their raid hit a snag. A passing motorist spooked the duo, forcing them to sprint back to their car and flee towards Cullompton. They made off empty-handed, but left behind thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Descriptions of the Suspects

  • One man: Large build, black hooded top, grey face mask, grey or dark striped T-shirt, black trousers, and black Nike trainers with white tick.
  • Other man: Wearing black jacket, black face mask, black trousers, and trainers, possibly with red laces.
