Police are continuing their relentless hunt for the killer of Leah Croucher, with Detective Superintendent Kevin Brown, Head of Major Crime, leading the ongoing investigation. Leah’s body was discovered in October 2022 at a home on Loxbeare Drive, Furzton, Milton Keynes, and since then officers have been diligently working to piece together the case.

To date, detectives have carried out more than 2,000 detailed actions as part of the inquiry. These efforts include extensive forensic searches, taking hundreds of witness statements, reviewing CCTV footage, and conducting thorough house-to-house enquiries throughout the local area.

Neil Maxwell remains the sole suspect in the case. He was publicly named as the only suspect in October last year and continues to be the focus of the investigation. Despite widespread media coverage and renewed inquiries with his acquaintances, employers, and neighbours, police have found no trace of Maxwell in Milton Keynes since December 2018.

Detective Chief Superintendent Ian Hunter stated, “Neil Maxwell remains the only nominated suspect at this point. We continue gathering evidence to establish the truth.” Maxwell is believed to have been on the run after being wanted for a sexual assault in Newport Pagnell in November 2018. Reports indicate he altered his appearance by growing a beard and possibly losing weight, and used false names to evade arrest.

Police even created a computer-generated image showing what Maxwell might have looked like around February 2019, the time when Leah disappeared.

Authorities are urgently appealing for anyone who may have seen Maxwell near Loxbeare Drive between December 2018 and April 2019 to come forward. They are asking for information about his whereabouts, the phone he used, or any vehicle he may have driven.

Members of the public can contact police confidentially via the official website or by calling 101, quoting ‘Operation Innsbruck.’ Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The investigation team continues to keep the Coroner and Crown Prosecution Service regularly updated. Additional details will be released when appropriate. Meanwhile, police request that the media respect the privacy of Leah’s family and friends during this difficult time.
