Garden Scam Alert in Southborough: Man Steals Cash After Offering ‘Help’

On the afternoon of Saturday, July 23, 2022, an uninvited man rocked up at a Southborough home. Claiming he could finish off some garden work, he soon asked for a cup of tea. While the unsuspecting elderly occupant was distracted, the suspect made off with cash.

Police Warn: Don’t Buy Into Doorstep Deals

Chief Inspector Omid Changizi, District Commander for Tunbridge Wells, issued a clear warning: “Refuse uninvited callers offering on-the-spot gardening, repairs, or maintenance.” He urged residents to rely on trusted traders recommended by friends and family. Always get and compare several quotes before hiring.
