Three men were arrested after a failed arson attempt at Persian media offices located in north-west London. The incident occurred at around 8:30pm on Wednesday, 15 April, when police officers on patrol were alerted to a flaming container being thrown towards the building.
The incendiary device landed harmlessly in a nearby car park, where the flames quickly died out. Fortunately, no injuries or damage were reported. Despite this, police launched an urgent manhunt to find those responsible.
Officers traced the suspects as they fled the scene in a black SUV. An Armed Response Vehicle pursued the vehicle after the driver ignored stop signals. The chase ended when the SUV crashed on Ballards Lane near Woodberry Gardens, N12.
Three suspects were taken into custody: a 16-year-old boy and two men aged 19 and 21. All three were arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life and remain in police custody.
Nearby buildings were evacuated as a precautionary measure, but police quickly confirmed there was no wider threat. Although the incident falls under the investigation of Counter Terrorism Policing London, authorities have ruled out any connection to recent arson attacks in Finchley or Golders Green.
