A young woman, believed to be in her 20s, was tragically murdered in broad daylight at the Dockside Outlet Centre car park in Chatham. The shocking attack occurred around 11am on Thursday, causing panic among shoppers at the busy shopping centre.

Witnesses described hearing loud shouting and chaos before seeing a man covered in blood being restrained by police officers. One bystander posted on Facebook: “Just pulling into Dockside, 10 police cars race past with flashing lights. As I locked my door, I heard shouting and commotion. Opposite me, a man soaked in blood was being restrained by officers.”

Another witness revealed that the victim’s throat was slit while she was sitting inside her car.

A 25-year-old man from the local area was arrested immediately at the scene on suspicion of murder. Police stated that the victim and suspect are believed to know each other. Witnesses reported that the suspect did not resist arrest.

Kent Police confirmed that the victim died at the scene from wounds consistent with a stabbing. Officers remain at the Dockside Outlet Centre conducting enquiries. Parts of the car park have reopened, with the remainder expected to be cleared by this evening.
