Bamidele Fawehinmi, aged 33, has been sentenced to prison following the brutal abuse of a vulnerable 55-year-old man, Dimitrios Tsavdaris, in Essex. Fawehinmi subjected Dimitrios to weeks of violent mistreatment and forced labour before abandoning him to die inside a flat in Hackney.
Fawehinmi inflicted prolonged abuse on Dimitrios, also known as Jimmy, in Wickford, Essex. He forced Dimitrios to sleep in a garage alongside dogs and compelled him to work long hours delivering drugs. This violent treatment left Dimitrios severely beaten and traumatised.
On 26 January 2024, Fawehinmi drove the injured Dimitrios to a flat on Lansdowne Drive, Hackney, where he locked him inside and left him there. Dimitrios was found dead three days later with a fractured skull, a direct result of the sustained violence.
In an attempt to evade justice, Fawehinmi tried to flee the country to Nigeria but was promptly arrested. He was convicted on multiple charges, including manslaughter, which led to his imprisonment.
This case highlights the severe consequences of violent abuse against vulnerable individuals and underscores law enforcement’s dedication to protecting those at risk and prosecuting offenders.
