Firefighters are currently battling a large fire involving plastics on Factory Road in Sandycroft. The emergency call was received by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service at 3.14pm on Tuesday 1st May.

Crews from multiple locations including Wrexham, Flint, Buckley, Mold, Llandudno, Deeside, Rhyl, Johnstown, and Ruthin have been deployed to the scene. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus are using hose reels and powerful main jets to combat the flames.

Darren Jones of North Wales Fire and Rescue Service warned that visibility is poor on the A494 and M56 due to thick smoke from the fire. He urged drivers to slow down and proceed with caution to avoid accidents caused by hazardous driving conditions.

Authorities have closed the road between Chemistry Lane and Factory Lane to ensure public safety. Nearby residents have been advised to keep all doors and windows shut to avoid smoke inhalation.

Jones also added, “Please avoid the riverside cycle path in Sandycroft this evening if you are walking or cycling. Water supplies could be disrupted as we fight the blaze.”

The incident is ongoing as emergency crews continue their efforts to bring the fire under control.
