A massive fire erupted at the plastic recycling centre located on Factory Road in Sandycroft. The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were alerted at 3:14pm on Tuesday 1st May and immediately dispatched multiple crews to the scene.
Emergency teams from Wrexham, Flint, Buckley, Mold, Llandudno, Deeside, Rhyl, Johnstown, and Ruthin are currently working to control the blaze. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus are using hose reels and powerful main jets to extinguish the flames.
The road between Chemistry Lane and Factory Lane has been closed as a precaution. Residents have been advised to keep their windows and doors closed and to avoid the riverside cycle path in Sandycroft this evening.
Heavy smoke from the fire has caused poor visibility on the A494 and the M56, prompting travel warnings. Darren Jones from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service stated, “Visibility is poor on the A494 and the M56 due to thick smoke. Please reduce your speed when travelling these routes. Water supplies may also be affected while we tackle the fire.”
The fire is ongoing, and authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. Locals are urged to stay alert for further updates as firefighters work to bring the incident under control.
