One in Seven Will Face Stalking – But Men Are Left in the Shadows

At least one in seven people will experience stalking in their lifetime, yet male victims often go unnoticed. While stats reveal that one in five women suffer stalking, experts warn that men also endure severe trauma but rarely get the spotlight or support they desperately need.

Male Victims Shrouded in Silence

Stalking isn’t just obsessive texts or creepy following – it includes all sorts of coercive control and unwanted attention. For men, admitting to being stalked can feel impossible. The stigma is huge, especially when the stalker is female or someone they know.

“It’s a silent crisis,” says a spokesperson from a top stalking support charity. “Men often suffer in silence because they don’t see themselves represented in conversations about stalking. But their trauma is no less real.”

Serious Toll on Men’s Mental Health and Lives

Charities highlight that stalking wrecks men’s mental health, work life, relationships, and wellbeing just as badly as it does for women. Yet most support systems still focus on female victims, leaving many men isolated.

Help Is Out There – Don’t Suffer Alone

  • The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, Paladin National Stalking Advocacy Service, and Respect Men’s Advice Line offer anonymous, non-judgemental support to male victims.
  • Speaking to a charity helpline is often the crucial first step for men to get help.
  • During National Stalking Awareness Week, campaigners urge everyone experiencing stalking – male or female – to report incidents and seek support.

If you’re being stalked or know someone who is, call the National Stalking Helpline on 0808 802 0300 or visit www.suzylamplugh.org. Men can also reach out to Respect Men’s Advice Line at 0808 801 0327.
