Tragic Kitchen Blaze Claims Woman’s Life in Northwood
Fire crews were scrambled to Newport Road, Northwood, on June 20th after a kitchen fire broke out in a residential property. The flames were quickly brought under control, but the drama was far from over.
One Hurt and Rushed to Hospital
Emergency services stretchered an injured person from the back of the property and raced them to hospital with blue lights flashing. The victim, a woman in her 80s, was seriously ill following the incident.
Fire Dogs Brought In – But Probe Scaled Back
Fire investigators flew in specialist dogs from the mainland the very next day to sniff out clues. However, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service later eased off the probe, deeming the situation less severe than initially feared.
Woman Passes Away – Police Launch Full Investigation
Tragically, the elderly woman died on June 26th at St Mary’s Hospital. Hampshire Constabulary is now working closely with the fire service and the Coroner to get to the bottom of what happened.
