Man Tries to Snatch Toddler Near Longbridge McDonald’s
Police are hunting a suspect after a man attempted to abduct a four-year-old child in broad daylight near a McDonald’s in Longbridge on Wednesday morning, April 30.
Close Call at 11.30am
The shocking incident unfolded around 11.30am as the child was walking with a woman. A man suddenly approached and tried to grab the child’s arm. Luckily, the woman quickly stepped in and stopped the abduction.
The suspect fled on foot, heading towards the nearby McDonald’s on Longbridge Lane.
Police Investigate, Community Urged to Help
West Midlands Police confirmed the child was unharmed and is receiving support from specialist officers. Detectives are combing through CCTV footage and speaking to local residents to track down the would-be kidnapper.
“We understand how distressing this incident will be to the community, but rest assured, we are taking it incredibly seriously,” said Inspector Matt Shaw of Birmingham Police. “We urge anyone who was in the area at the time to check dashcams, doorbell cameras, or any footage that could assist with our enquiries.”
