During a routine patrol on Wednesday evening, HM Coastguard Romney Marsh responded swiftly after the Solent Operations room alerted them to multiple people stranded by the rising tide at Camber Sands.
Sussex Police arrived at the scene to find two individuals trapped on a wreck that was already engulfed by water. The coastguards acted quickly, diving in with tethered lines to reach the stranded pair safely.
The Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat joined the rescue operation, playing a vital role in bringing the casualties back to shore securely.
Once ashore, the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB) provided urgent medical care to the rescued individuals. Additional support was provided by HM Coastguard Rye Bay and the RNLI Rye Harbour Lifeboat Station, ensuring the smooth running of the operation.
This swift and daring rescue highlights the importance of quick response and teamwork among emergency services. If you ever find yourself in trouble along the coast, remember to dial 999 and ask for “The Coastguard”.
