Two Hurt in Hit-and-Run Chaos on A13 During Rush Hour
Morning Mayhem on Essex’s A13
Two people were rushed to hospital after a suspected hit-and-run sparked havoc on the A13 this Monday morning. The multi-vehicle smash happened around 6.45am on the eastbound carriageway near Chafford Hundred, Essex Police confirmed.
Three vehicles were found at the scene, but a fourth driver fled before officers arrived, leaving behind a trail of crash debris and disruption.
Road Closures and Traffic Delays
All three lanes were shut between the A1089 and A1012 junctions as emergency crews treated minor injuries and cleared the wreckage. Traffic snarled early on but gradually eased, with National Highways expecting normal flow to return by 10am.
Police Issue Urgent Appeal
“We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the incident or have dash cam footage of the moments before or after the crash to come forward,” said an Essex Police spokesperson. “It is believed a fourth vehicle involved in the collision left the scene prior to our arrival.”
